Microneedling
Micro-needling is the treatment of medical skin needling (also called collagen induction therapy) aimed at stimulating the body to produce collagen.
Collagen is the main structural protein found in skin and connective tissue. Created by fibroblast cells in the dermis. Most of the body’s collage is type I, 28 different types of collage have been identified.
This procedure uses hundreds of tiny needles to puncture your skin. Once these punctures have been made, it will cause your skin to heal itself which produces healthier, collagen-filled skin in the process. MicroNeedling is ideal for patients who are looking to treat fine lines and wrinkles, add more volume to their skin, and get rid of any scarring. Plus, because it’s non-invasive, you won’t have to worry about taking too much time off of work or any downtime.
Micro-needling treatment stimulates the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring by acne, chicken pox, left by accidents. Micro-needling is also used for hair restoration.
You can go back to work or school after the procedure if you're comfortable. Some people apply camouflaging makeup during the first few days as the redness dissipates. Your skin will also be more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is a must. After microneedling, your skin works fairly quickly to rejuvenate new tissue.
FAQs
When will I start to see changes?
As soon as the deepest layers of your skin are penetrated by the needles, “micro-wounds” are created. This triggers your body's wound healing processes to heal your micro wounds immediately. However, the most dramatic results will not be visible until four to six weeks after treatment.
Am I suitable for microneedling?
You may not be an ideal candidate for microneedling if you are pregnant, have certain skin diseases, such as Psoriasis or eczema, have open wounds, have had radiation therapy recently or have a history of skin scars.
Are there any risks or complications I should be aware of?
Like all cosmetic procedures, microneedling isn’t without risk. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for a few days. Call your us if you notice more severe side effects, such as; bleeding, bruising, infection and peeling.
